A short flight takes you to Danang, in the heart of the country. During your couple of days here, perhaps explore the charming town of Hoi An by bicycle, or visit the old imperial capital of Hue, located on the Perfume River.

hanoi

Another hop by plane, and then a short drive to the Friendship Village, your base for five days of voluntary work on a range of projects to assist the residents, who are all suffering the effects of Agent Orange, many of them children born disabled as a result of their parents’ infection.  There will be time at the end to experience the bustling city of Hanoi itself.

project details

The Vietnam Friendship Village is a project founded and funded by veterans of the Vietnam war with the backing of five Governments, namely Vietnam, USA, UK, France and Germany.  The Village is home for 160 orphaned children and elderly or disabled adults, who are victims of Agent Orange, defoliant sprayed extensively by US forces in Vietnam during the war. During the five days, you will be able to assist the village’s inhabitants in various ways, depending on your skills and interests.  Examples include teaching English, teaching children songs and games, helping in their organic garden, or simply playing games and spending time with the children.  Those with relevant skills can assist in the medical centre, with vocational training or IT projects.
